Commitment to the IOKode project
I’m in the process of moving to another country, so I’m currently spending most of my time closing multiple personal things before leaving my current country. That requires a lot of time, so I don’t have much time to write here or to dedicate to projects like OpinionatedFramework.
That doesn’t mean I’m not committed to these projects. Both OpinionatedFramework and IOKode are very important to me because they are part of my professional identity, but right now I have other priorities. I expect to be in Andorra in the coming months, but I don’t have confirmation yet, and the process may take longer than expected.
This post is simply an explanation of why my progress has been slow: few commits on OpinionatedFramework, few posts on the blog in recent months, and I didn’t accomplish my 2026 goals for OpinionatedFramework. Unfortunately, I need to move those goals to 2027.
Backlog
I currently have a backlog of posts to write and three IOKode-related projects:
- OpinionatedFramework: A .NET framework focused on the domain/application layer with strong opinions about how to architect the kind of applications we build at work.
- OpinionatedArch: A custom installer/distribution for Arch Linux with strong opinions about how I want my work machine to be.
- OpinionatedShell: A frontend for Bash, Zsh, and PowerShell with strong opinions about how I like to interact with a shell.
While these projects and posts will be delayed, I’m still fully committed to them. I just have other personal priorities right now. I expect to have much more time to dedicate to them once I’ve fully moved to Andorra.
Strong opinions
The name of my projects reflects something: I have strong opinions about how I want the software I use to be.
Arguing all these opinions across the three projects would be too much for a single post, but they will be documented in each project’s documentation. Some of these opinions will also have dedicated posts exploring them in depth.
Most of the posts on this blog are also opinionated. I’m very comfortable writing my own opinions and, of course, reading others’ opinions.
Translating posts
Writing posts requires time that I currently don’t have, but I already have a number of posts written in Spanish that can be cheaply translated into English using AI, followed by a human review by me.
I’ll likely start translating some of my old posts over the next few months.
Want to write your opinion?
As the constitution says, guest authors can write on IOKode and have full freedom of expression to share their opinions, with the only condition being that the topic stays within software development or computer science.
While I don’t currently have time to write my own posts, you’re welcome to contribute yours. You’re free to choose any license and publish it elsewhere as well. You retain ownership of what you write.
If this sounds interesting, feel free to email collaborating@iokode.net.
